From achy joints and sore muscles to burning and tingling nerves, pain can make life miserable. It can be hard to make the necessary lifestyle changes to address the underlying causes when the pain is all that someone can focus on. As a result, it can dramatically reduce the quality of life.

A pain cream is a great way to provide relief without relying on massive changes to someone's daily life. The goal of this cream should be to provide symptom relief while providing beneficial effects and nourishing the affected areas. Not just cover up or mask the pain. Many pain relief creams are out there, but they often miss the mark for various reasons.
We went searching for one and wanted a cream that would:
Have a base that nourished the skin and was nutrient-dense. Without good nutrition, it makes it harder for an area to heal.
Not contain questionable synthetic chemicals or preservatives.
Be free of inflammatory vegetable and seed oils.
Be free of water. We wanted the cream to be 100% beneficial ingredients. Water in pain relief creams is just a filler and reduces the amount of beneficial ingredients.
Be free of mineral oil and petroleum-based ingredients.
Have a pusher that helps to move the ingredients through the skin and deep into the tissues and the bloodstream. This pusher would be completely safe and contribute valuable nutrients and contribute to reducing pain. It must be completely safe and not cause any damage to the skin or the underlying tissue.
Be free of essential oils. While essential oils have benefits, they can be irritating to already sore tissues and to those who are very sensitive to smells. In addition, they do not contain the full range of constituents present in a plant, which means that some of the beneficial aspects of the whole herb would be missing.
Be free of menthol and camphor. Many people do not react well to the smell of these ingredients, and they can cause the skin to become very dry. We want the skin to be well moisturized so it heals better and faster. These ingredients were definitely on our avoid list.
Contain ingredients that help soothe and heal damaged skin.
Contain ingredients that work for multiple types of pain, from nerve to muscle.
Promote blood flow and circulation to the affected area. Circulation and blood flow are vital to the healing process. The blood brings nutrients and other compounds and helps to remove unwanted substances from the area. Without sufficient blood flow, the healing process will not work as it should.
Contain no added fragrance.
Have ingredients traceable back to the farms they came from.
Work by improving the situation, not masking the problem.

We could not find a pain relief cream that met all of these conditions, so it was time to formulate something.
So what ingredients helped us meet the criteria and made it into the formula?
Regeneratively farmed grass-fed water buffalo tallow forms the base (along with a bit of unrefined organic beeswax to keep it firm and smooth). Tallow is rich in fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K2) and fatty acids that help with healing and collagen production. It does not clog pores (non-comedogenic) and has a similar fatty acid profile as our skin. It is an excellent moisturizer as well.
Next up was finding a good pusher. Emu oil was the only pusher we could find that checked all the boxes: effective, safe, and nourishing. It is rich in fat-soluble vitamins (the richest food source of k2 as mk4) and beneficial fatty acids. It is quickly absorbed and penetrates through the skin to deliver the ingredients where they need to be without damaging underlying tissues.

Emu's are jerks; ask any Australian.
Infused into the tallow is a blend of herbs.
Organic Arnica flowers
Arnica helps to soothe muscle pain and is excellent for bruises.
Arnica is rich in a compound called thymol. It helps with vasodilation and brings more blood flow to the area, which helps with healing.
Organic St. John’s Wort flowers
St. John’s Wort helps to ease nerve pain. Hyperforin and hypericin (compounds in St. John’s Wort) have an analgesic effect on the nerves.
Organic Cayenne peppers
Cayenne helps to promote blood flow and circulation. It also helps with nerve and joint pain, tingling, and cold fingers and toes.
Cayenne reduces substance P, a chemical that carries pain messages to the brain. When there are lower levels of this compound, the pain messages do not reach the brain, and a person will feel relief.
Organic Comfrey leaves
Comfrey helps to promote tissue healing and soothes painful, irritated skin. It is rich in allantoin, which helps with rough, scaly skin and minor burns.
Do not use this cream on second and third-degree burns.

In addition to that, organic full-spectrum, terpene rich, hemp extract is added. Cannabinoids found in hemp interact with the endocannabinoid receptors in the skin. Most CBD and hemp creams only get into the epidermis, the topmost layer of the skin. The emu oil helps to push the beneficial compounds through the upper layers of the skin and moves them much deeper than regular CBD and hemp creams.
To get the best results from this cream, massage it in the affected area and the area around it for two minutes at a time, three times a day. This helps to bring blood flow and nutrients to the area. The beneficial effects will build over time. It will take seven to fourteen days of continuous use to see the full benefits.
Always try a new cream on a tiny area, such as the back of your hand, to make sure you react well to it. Do not apply to broken skin or open wounds.
This cream is meant to help you get the pain under control, so you can start on the path to getting better and be able to work on the underlying causes of the pain.
