Their harvesters venture out in all types of weather to handpick the seaweed during their peak growing periods when the plants are in optimal condition and rich in nutrients. Unlike the standard machine-harvesting method, individual plants are cut so that enough remains for regrowth and reproduction.
They work in small teams and access the foreshore on foot. They also follow the most stringent ecological regulations to ensure the local ecosystem thrives. The seaweed is then washed and slowly air-dried at low temperatures to preserve its enzymes and delicate phytochemicals. They also use smaller milling sizes to increase bioavailability.
